Buddha Shakyamuni sits in meditation at the center of this thanka painting, surrounded by 107 small Buddha images and two Bodhisatvas. He carries an alms bowl in both hands, [bhumisparsha mudra]
The "Gesture of Meditation" [dhyana mudra] It is also called Samadhi or Yoga Mudra. Both hands are placed on the lap, right hand on left with fingers fully stretched and the palms facing upwards. This is the characteristic gesture of Buddha Shakyamuni, Dhyani Buddha Amitabha and the Medicine Buddhas.
Shakyamunis hair is painted blue, as befits peaceful deity. His head and the exposed part of his body are painted gold, while fine gold lines delineate the border designs on his robe. The foliage and flowers behind the Buddha are especially well done.
The 107 smaller Buddhas are shown with one mudra and central focus bigger buddha. Since one obtains merit by painting or sculpting sacred images, the execution of the multiple images represents a meritorious undertaking.
All our 108 buddha thangka paintings are exclusively painted on cotton canvas with natural colors extracts and gold powder paintings based on tibetan meditation buddhist texts. We offer you various collection of fine 108 buddha thanka paintings for online
sales directly from artisans workshop.
